4th of July Events in Ohio River Cities

fireworks-of-various-colors-bu-19160972Happy 4th of July! My grandpa used to freak us out as kids by saying that 4th of July means summer is almost over. Yeah right!

In the Ohio River cities there are three events I’m excited about this year for the July 4th weekend.

1. New Albany’s Independence Day Celebration will be held at the Riverfront Amphitheater on July 3, 2015 at 5pm. This FREE and family-friendly event will feature sets from local bands Decades, The Juice Box Heroes, and The Louisville Crashers, culminating in a beautiful fireworks display at dark.
Food and drink vendors will be on hand, along with numerous children’s inflatables, face painters, and more fun for the whole family!

2. Jeffersonville’s Celebrating Freedom Parade on Saturday, July 4th at 11am in Historic Downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana. The parade route will be along Spring Street from the riverfront to Federal Avenue (near Warder Park).

After the parade there will be a brief ceremony in Warder Park to remember the origins of America’s freedoms, to honor our veterans, and give the parade awards. Cold drinks and hot dogs will be available for purchase at the ceremony. Warder Park is located at the corner of Spring Street and Court Avenue. There will also be concerts in Warder Park and the RiverStage on July 4 to celebrate Independence Day!
